Practice Policies
-
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 24 hours notice. Appointments cancelled with less than the required notice will be subject to the full session fee.
I understand that unexpected circumstances and emergencies can happen. Please reach out as soon as possible if you're unable to attend your appointment.
-
Missed appointments or appointments cancelled without sufficient notice will be charged the full session fee.
If you arrive late, you're still welcome to use the remaining time in your scheduled session; however, sessions will typically end at the originally scheduled time to respect appointments that follow.
-
Payment is due at the end of your appointment unless another arrangement has been made in advance.
Current session fees are provided before beginning therapy and listed on the Services page.
Receipts are provided following payment and can be submitted to your insurance provider or extended health benefits plan where applicable.
-
Psychotherapy provided by a Registered Psychotherapist is covered by many private insurance and extended health benefit plans.
Coverage varies between providers and individual plans, so I encourage you to confirm your coverage directly with your insurance provider before beginning therapy.
Psychotherapy is not currently covered by OHIP.
-
Lean On Me Therapy provides virtual psychotherapy to clients across Ontario through a secure video platform.
For your privacy and comfort, I encourage you to attend sessions from a quiet and private location whenever possible. Please avoid participating in therapy while driving or in situations where you cannot safely and privately engage in the session.
Technology doesn't always cooperate. If we experience a significant interruption or lose connection during a session, we'll make reasonable efforts to reconnect or determine the best way to continue.
And for parents of babies and young children: your session doesn't need to be perfectly quiet or interruption-free. Babies are welcome.
-
Email and other forms of electronic communication are primarily intended for administrative matters such as scheduling, cancellations, or appointment-related questions.
Because electronic communication may not be monitored continuously, it should not be used for urgent mental health concerns or emergencies.
Clinical concerns are generally best discussed during your scheduled therapy session, where we have the time and privacy to give them appropriate attention.
-
Your privacy is an important part of the therapeutic relationship.
Information shared during therapy is kept confidential in accordance with applicable professional and legal requirements. There are specific circumstances in which a therapist may be required or permitted by law to disclose information without your consent. These limits to confidentiality will be reviewed with you as part of the informed consent process before beginning therapy.
Additional information about the collection, use, and protection of personal information can be found in Lean On Me Therapy's Privacy Policy.
-
You are free to end therapy at any time.
Whenever possible, I encourage clients to discuss their decision to end therapy so that we can review your progress, address any concerns, and plan for next steps.
There may also be circumstances where I recommend another therapist, service, or level of care if I believe it would better meet your needs. When appropriate, I will discuss this with you and help support the transition.
-
Lean On Me Therapy does not provide emergency or crisis services and messages are not monitored continuously.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, are in immediate danger, or are concerned about your immediate safety or the safety of someone else, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.
If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide or are worried about someone who may be, you can call or text 988 for Canada's Suicide Crisis Helpline, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
I want the practical side of therapy to feel as clear and straightforward as possible. Below you'll find information about appointments, cancellations, fees, insurance, virtual sessions, communication, and privacy at Lean On Me Therapy.
