Perinatal & Postpartum Therapy
Support through fertility, pregnancy, postpartum & parenthood
The journey to becoming a parent doesn't always unfold the way you imagined.
For some, it begins with fertility struggles, treatment, uncertainty, or pregnancy loss. For others, pregnancy, postpartum, or becoming a parent brings anxiety, overwhelm, guilt, grief, relationship changes, or a sense of feeling unlike yourself.
You may love your baby deeply and still find parenthood incredibly hard. You may be grateful for where you are while also grieving parts of yourself or your life that have changed.
Whatever you're experiencing, you don't have to wait until you're in crisis to ask for support.
You may be experiencing...
• Fertility-related anxiety, grief, or the emotional toll of IUI or IVF
• Pregnancy loss or anxiety during pregnancy or pregnancy after loss
• Postpartum anxiety or depression
• Intrusive or scary thoughts
• Irritability, anger, or postpartum rage
• Birth trauma or difficulty processing your birth experience
• Guilt, perfectionism, or feeling like you're not doing enough
• Feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, or constantly "on"
• Changes in your identity or feeling unlike yourself
• Mental load and parenting anxiety
• Changes in intimacy, communication, or your relationship
• Difficulty adjusting to parenthood
You don't need to relate to everything on this list. Sometimes you simply know that something doesn't feel like you.
There can be enormous pressure to feel happy and grateful while trying to become a parent, during pregnancy, or after having a baby.
You might find yourself thinking:
"I thought I would be pregnant by now."
"I'm tired of everyone telling me to relax."
"I'm scared something is going to happen to my baby."
"I love my baby, but I don't love every part of being a parent."
"I miss my old life."
"I'm angry all the time."
"I don't recognize myself anymore."
"I feel guilty for even feeling this way."
Therapy is a space where you don't have to minimize, justify, or feel guilty about what you're experiencing.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental. Together, we can make sense of what you're experiencing and develop practical strategies to help you feel more grounded, connected, and like yourself again.
Support at Every Stage
Fertility &
Trying to conceive
Trying to conceive can become all-consuming. The waiting, testing, appointments, fertility treatments, uncertainty, and disappointment can take an emotional toll.
Therapy can offer a space to process fertility-related anxiety and grief, navigate IUI or IVF, cope with pregnancy loss, and feel supported through a journey that can often feel outside of your control.
Pregnancy &
Postpartum
Pregnancy and postpartum don't always feel the way you expected them to.
You may experience constant worry, sadness, intrusive thoughts, irritability, anger, guilt, or difficulty feeling like yourself. Sometimes you're caring for your baby and appearing "fine" to everyone around you while internally you're struggling.
You don't need to fit neatly into a diagnosis to benefit from support.
Parenthood &
Relationships
Becoming a parent can change your identity, relationship, priorities, and everyday life.
You may love your child deeply while also missing parts of your old life, struggling with the mental load, feeling disconnected from your partner, or wondering who you are outside of being a parent.
Therapy can help you navigate these changes individually or together as a couple.
The journey to parenthood can hold hope and grief, love and overwhelm, joy and uncertainty — sometimes all at once.
How Therapy Can Help
We'll start by understanding what you're experiencing, what feels most difficult right now, and what you would like to feel different.
Depending on your needs, therapy may involve managing anxiety, understanding intrusive thoughts, processing grief or difficult experiences, navigating changes in identity and relationships, and finding ways to feel more grounded in your everyday life.
I draw from evidence-informed approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), as well as my training in Maternal Mental Health and Infant Mental Health.
Babies Are Welcome
Perinatal and postpartum therapy is offered virtually to clients across Ontario, making it easier to access support from home.
Your baby is welcome to be part of your session. Feed them, hold them, rock them, or take a moment if they need you.
Your session doesn't have to look perfect for therapy to be meaningful.
You Don't Have to Navigate This Alone
Whether you're trying to conceive, pregnant, postpartum, or adjusting to parenthood, you don't have to wait until things feel unbearable to reach out.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can talk briefly about what you're experiencing and whether therapy with me may be a good fit.
